My journey to wholeness in my free online book  @

Part 1 UNSCREWED – Becoming Whole Again

John Gouldener describes himself as a regular guy who teaches rather than preaches.  Raised Catholic, John stopped going to church in his early twenties because, as he says, “I didn’t feel good enough.” After a twenty-two year career in sales, John resigned in 1990 as vice-president of a multi-location building supply company and became associate pastor of a large Nashville church. In 1993 he and five others founded Highland Park Church, which grew from its original six to over one thousand members. In the fall of 2005, John and his wife, Cathy, along with many others, planted Crossroad Community Church( www.nashvillecrossroad.com). CCC closed December 31, 2016 and started the Crossroad Miracles Still Happen Grant Program to help other churches through financial grants for reaching the lost.

John’s personality is personified through CCC’s style of worship: accept everyone, appreciate everyone, affirm everyone. He is passionate for Christ and for reaching the unchurched.  He teaches about the love of a  “Big G God”  in a casual, easy-to-understand way. John’s messages are so relevant that finally you can leave church knowing how to apply biblical principles to your everyday life.

In the fall of 2005 John faced a secret that he had held for 45 years — abuse as a child from a teacher. During a thirty day stay at Sierra Tucson  (www.sierratucson.com)  John was finally able to  forgive his abuser (deceased), verbalize and discard the shame, guilt and despair that he had carried for all those years. As he says so often, “I left all of that stuff in the Arizona desert. My only regret is I didn’t do it sooner”.

John is a graduate of Father Ryan High School and Trevecca Nazarene University. He has been married to his wife, Cathy, for 41 years. He  is an avid cyclist and gym rat. John is married to his awesome wife Cathy. They have one son, Michael and a grandson, Hudson, who is one of the coolest nine year old on the planet  and the subject of many of his writings.
